Guided Private Fly-In Safari

South Africa, Botswana, and Namibia

15 Days / 14 Nights

Delta to Desert with Private Pilot & Guide

Southern Africa is home to incredible diversity in scenery and habitats. We want you to experience it all during this trip! We’ll visit the Okavango Delta in Botswana teeming with abundant wildlife and known for open savannahs, flowing rivers, and crystal clear lagoons. We will spend time at the Klaserie Private Reserve within Kruger National Park.  Here we’ll have a luxury private lodge to ourselves and have the opportunity for walking safaris with private guides, and both day and night game viewing.   In Namibia we’ll see the oldest “living” desert, Namib Desert, including Sossusvlei, the highest sand dunes in the world. We’ll also visit the coastal resort town of Swakopmund and capital city of Windhoeck.

Day 1 & 2    Johannesburg, South Africa & Rietvlei Nature Reserve

Arrive at O R Tambo International Airport in Johannesburg.   We will meet you at the airport and provide transfer to your hotel for the next 2 nights, the Opikopi Guest House which is situated in Pretoria, the Capital of South Africa. Relax upon arrival.  The next morning, after breakfast, we set off for the Rietvlei Nature Reserve.  This 3800 hectare reserve, located in Guateng, is home to approximately 2000 animals including cheetah leopard, buffalo, and white rhino.  Today we will also visit the  Lesedi Cultural Village to experience the local African culture.   We head back to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

2 Nights Lodging  Opikopi Guest House

Day 3, 4 & 5   Klaserie National Reserve, Kruger Park

After an early breakfast we depart by road for the Klaserie National Reserve in the Greater Kruger Park area.  We will arrive at our lodge set among large sausage and fever trees in beautiful gardens in the afternoon.

The Nzumba Private Game Lodge offers a truly private wildlife experience!  Built next to a waterhole, this lodge attracts elephant, impala, zebra and leopard (just to name a few) to stop by for a drink.   From the veranda you can relax with look out over the waterhole for amazing views.

While staying here, we have 7900 acres of land to traverse on game drives which is 100% private for our group.  No other camp in the Greater Kruger area allows this kind of exclusivity!   We will spend the next 2 days exploring the area, seeing wildlife (lions and leopards frequent this area), getting to know the bird populations, and learning about local trees and their medicinal properties.

The lodging here is exquisite.  Each chalet has its own en-suite bathroom, ceiling fan and air conditioning unit. The lounge and dining room are off an enclosed boma area.

Day 6, 7 & 8   Okavango Delta, Botswana

Early this morning, we depart from the Klaserie Camps airstrip on a private flight to the Okavango Delta in Botswana.   After we clear customs and refuel in Francistown, we take off for another short flight to our camp for the night, situated in the middle of the Okavango Delta. You will have an opportunity to see amazing views of the Delta and many different types of wildlife from the air.

The Okavango Delta is one of the last remaining wilderness areas of Africa. The Delta is approximately 16,000 square kilometers fed by the floodwaters of Central Africa. These waters fan out forming a wetland system of gorgeous channels, lagoons and islands that support a wealth of wildlife. Our camp in this area lies on the western boundary of the Moremi Game Reserve. The Moremi is unique due to rich deposits of sediments attracting large herds of antelopes and in turn large population of predators. It is also a birdwatchers paradise.

While visiting the Delta we have the opportunity to view wildlife from boats, safari vehicles, or by foot.   Water levels are highest May – September.

Our camp in this area is the Pom Pom Camp. Here we’ll enjoy luxury tented accommodations and get to experience wildlife in front of the camps permanent lagoon. The next 2 days will be filled with game drives, and relaxation.

Black and white rhino, as well as lion, leopard and cheetah call this area home as well. It is common to see 5 – 8 or more mammal species at a water hole at the same time.

Once we arrive we’ll check into the Etosha Village where we can relax and enjoy the Namibian bush.

We will take game drives and experience breath-taking views of the Mopani forest.  We will see the sunsets from the mountains or may experience a bush dinner, inclusive of authentic bush cuisine prepared over open fires, and a star gazing session through our telescope to see the star studded skies in this area.
