The Holistic Conservation Safari in Zambia gives you a behind-the-scenes look into the challenging work of resource protection, community outreach, and wildlife rescue and rehabilitation.

Capture Africa Tours and Game Rangers International (GRI) have teamed up to create this unique Holistic Conservation Safari experience. The tour includes traditional safari game drives, educational insight on wildlife conservation, and elephant viewing opportunities at the Elephant Nursery, the Release Facility and in their natural habitat.

DAY-BY-DAY ITINERARY

Itinerary Changes We make every attempt to follow this itinerary. This tour may not be identical to what you have signed up for but can be altered/changed in any way depending on your needs. However, certain conditions (political, climatic, cultural, environmental, or wildlife migration) may require changes. We reserve the right to alter any itinerary at any time, if necessary. We will notify participants of changes as far in advance as possible. Costs incurred by such changes will be the responsibility of the participants.

DAY 1: ARRIVE IN LUSAKA, ZAMBIA

Upon arrival a Capture Africa Tours host will greet you at the airport to transfer you to the hotel. That evening, choose to join your travel host and meet the other members of your tour at a local restaurant or explore Lusaka on your own. The tour will begin the next morning.

1 Night, Latitude 15 Hotel or similar – No meals included

DAY 2: LUSAKA NATIONAL PARK & ELEPHANT NURSERY

After breakfast, we’ll take a safari game drive to explore the wonderful wildlife of Zambia. In the late afternoon, our group will visit the GRI Elephant Nursery where we will watch the young elephants from the elephant viewing deck, enjoy evening cocktails, and learn more about their rescue and the rehabilitation program from the Wildlife Rescue Program Director or another team member.

3 Nights, Lilayi Lodge or similar – Full Board (some beverages not included)

DAY 3 & 4: ELEPHANT NURSERY & COMMUNITY PROJECT VISITS

The next two mornings will be spent either enjoying a behind-the-scenes tour of the Elephant Nursery or a visit to GRI’S community outreach projects, such as a local school. Both days the morning activities will be followed by a deck viewing of the young elephants and then an afternoon of personal relaxation at the pool or a safari game drive.

DAY 5: KAFUE NATIONAL PARK & SUNSET CRUISE

Drive to Kafue National Park spending the afternoon on a game drive to take in the magnificent sights in Kafue National Park. Staying overnight in the park allows the opportunity to take in a breathtaking sunset cruise along the mighty Kafue River.

1 Night, ILA Safari Lodge – Full Board (some beverages not included)

DAY 6: BUSH WALK IN KAFUE NATIONAL PARK

Morning bush walk alongside an expert bush walking guide and an armed Zambian Wildlife Officer. This will be a wonderful chance to get up close and personal to the natural environment and to appreciate the smaller things that you miss from a vehicle. Later that afternoon we will make our way to Musa.

3 Nights, Musungwa Lodge – Full Board (some beverages not included)

DAY 7: TOUR GRI FIELD HQ & CRUISE THE LAKE

After breakfast, we head to Musa Field Headquarters for a talk with the Program Director followed by a tour of the property and a chance to meet the wildlife rangers. Later, we cruise along the lake to enjoy the wildlife and sunset, followed by dinner and discussions with the CEO of GRI or another member of the team.

DAY 8: ELEPHANT RELEASE FACILITY

Today enjoy a safari game drive as we make our way to the Elephant Release Facility. Here we will learn more about the program and how the elephants are released back into the wild. That evening we enjoy sundowners by the lake and possibly an evening game drive.

DAY 9 & 10: VICTORIA FALLS & MOSI-OA-TUNYA NATIONAL PARK

Travel to Livingstone. Over the next two days we visit Victoria Falls and take a swim in Devil’s Pool. These world famous, crystal clear pools have frightening yet beautiful views of the 100 meter drop overlooking the falls. Also explore the Mosi-oa-Tunya National Park with a bush walk or a safari game drive. Relax with some downtime by the pool or explore the sights of Livingstone.

On day 10, there will be a group good-bye dinner before everyone heads home in the morning.

2 Nights, The Royal Livingstone Hotel – Full Board (some beverages and some excursions not included)

DAY 11: DEPARTURE

After breakfast transfer to Harry Mwanga Nkumbula International Airport for departure.
